About Us
Chelsea Group History Chelsea Group, Ltd., has focused on improving the indoor environment since its creation in 1990. The company founder, George Benda, was already a leader in the emerging area of building sciences at that time. He had previously served as CEO of HEC Energy Corporation, a venture capital backed energy services company he sold to Northeast Utilities that is now known as Select Energy. Before HEC, Mr. Benda had served as director of energy programs for the State of Illinois. His pioneering work at Chelsea Group in developing the INVIRONMENT® Handbook of Building Management and Indoor Air Quality, published by Powers Educational Services in 1991, put Chelsea Group on the building sciences map. Since that time Chelsea Group has continued in an industry leadership role, consistently introducing new paradigms to respond to changing issues and concerns related to the indoor environment. Chelsea Group provides property owners and managers with assessments, remediation management, and loss prevention programs for mold and indoor air quality challenges using engineering, industrial hygiene, and building science expertise. We have built a nationwide service delivery program to deliver cost effective assessments of property condition, diagnostics for complaint resolution, and design and commissioning support for new construction.
